Provincial Parks in the Shuswap

Shuswap Lake Provincial Park happens to be a very talked-about park in British Columbia's Southern Interior. Visitors, mainly from BC and Alberta, camp there every year by the hundreds. Shuswap Lake Provincial Park is located on the northshore of Shuswap Lake's major arm, in the community of Scotch Creek. From the municipality of Salmon Arm, drive about forty five minutes north to reach the park. From the city of Kamloops, the park is roughly one hour's drive east. The big encampment is equipped with a picnic space for day use, about 275 camp sites, and a large seaside of gravel and sand.

Shuswap Lake Park is situated on an old delta of Scotch Creek. The evidence that this was one time the site of First Nations settlements is got on the ruins of semi-underground pit houses, known as Kekuli, utilized by Shuswap First Nations peoples. The park's Nature House encompasses a Kekuli model rebuilding, and the archaeological remains are situated inside the park boundaries.
